How to draw the interior with light and monochrome tones

Drawing an interior with light and monochrome tones is always more complicated than a dark interior or interior with more colors.
In such illustrations, we should catch and try to convey the tonal difference between objects.

Every color has a range of shades, from light to dark. If you find it difficult to see shades of color (some people have problems with this, especially at first), squint your eyes. At the same time, the number of tones that our eye sees is reduced, all contrasts of light and dark are simplified.

When I studied graphic design, we did this exercise: we drew a tone stretch from light to dark. Of course, it would be better to do this on paper with watercolors or pencils.

The technique I use in the drawing is a gradual set of tone and color.
So I gradually move from light tones to darker during the drawing process. This helps me to have better control over the saturation of the illustration.

We should notice and try to convey the tonal difference between objects.

My tips for drawing such interiors:

1. I work on the volume of an object from light tones and gradually/smoothly turn to dark ones.
2. I squint my eyes while drawing and determine where to add more lights/shadows.
3. I avoid the black color in the palette. Instead, I use different shades of dark gray: warm and cold tones.
4. I work with light very delicately. I use different shades of very light gray.
